Description:A virtual workshop was held from August 17-19, 2021, that included staff from NOAA Fisheries’ Office of Science and Technology, Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC), Southeast Fisheries Science Center (SEFSC), Greater Atlantic Regional Fisheries Office (GARFO), and Southeast Regional Office (SERO). Staff from Federal and State fishery management councils and commissions and from academia were also part of the workshop. Within the context of changing climate, ocean ecosystems, and species distributions, the objectives of the workshop were to (1) assess the degree of coordination of National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) science activities across regional and regulatory boundaries along the U.S. Atlantic Coast, and (2) identify opportunities to improve coordination and related support for fisheries and protected species management.
