Description:The changes incorporated in the LFM model since the end of 1976 are documented. Emphasis is placed on the computational grids used by the model and on its vertical structure. The calculation of donvective precipitation and the vertical interpolation from the model's coordinate to isobaric surfaces for display purposes are treated in detail. The circulation and precipitation forecasts of the LFM are evaluated by presenting monthly values of SI scores and of threat scores for the years 1976 through 1979.
