Description:Weextendthree-componentplanewavebeamformingtoamoregeneralformanddevisea framework,whichincorporatesvelocityheterogeneitiesoftheseismicpropagationmediumandallowsus toestimateaccuratelysourcesthatdonotfollowthesimpleplanewaveassumption.Thisisachievedby utilizingfastmarchingtotrackseismicwavefrontsforgivensurfacewavephasevelocitymaps.TheresultingmatchedfieldprocessingapproachisusedtostudythesurfacewavelocationsofRayleighandLovewaves at8and16sbasedondatafromfourseismicarraysinthewesternUnitedStates.Byaccuratelyaccounting for the path propagation effects, we are able to map microseism surface wave source locations moreaccuratelythanconventionalplanewavebeamforming.Intheprimarymicroseismsfrequencyrange,Love wavesaredominantoverRayleighwavesanddisplayadirectionalradiationpattern.Inthesecondary
