Description:The research program of the Division of Ecology at the Beaufort Laboratory is jointly funded by the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) and the Energy Research and Development Administration (ERDA), and receives about 50% of its direct funds from each agency. The research objective of this multi-disciplinary effort is to understand the relation between fishery productivity and ecosystem productivity in estuaries and coastal waters of the southeastern U.S. and to assess the effects of energy-related activities on these ecosystems.
