This is the seventeenth Federal Plan in an annual series developed by the Federal Coordinator for Meteorological Services and Supporting Research in response to Section 304 of Public Law 87-843. The Plan describes the Nation's meteorological programs designed to reduce the economic and social impact of natural disasters, promote the Nation's welfare and economy, preserve and enhance the environ, ment, and strengthen the national security.
