Description:This project evaluates the infrastructure needs to support accelerated growth of seafood production in Alaska. The grant for accomplishing this work was provided by two U.S. Department of Commerce agencies, the Economic Development Administration and the National Marine Fisheries Service. Phyllis Lamphere, Director of EDA Western Region, was the client leader for the project. Earl R. Combs, Inc. was the grant contractor. This project has benefited from the attention and consideration of several representatives of federal agencies, as well as representatives of the State of Alaska and the State of Washington who are interested in supporting seafood production development in Alaska. An Advisory Committee was formed to guide the contractor's work, evaluate progress, and ultimately validate the planning process. Several task teams with expert knowledge about important topics were formed and these teams provided critical planning factors for use in the process.
