Description:In 2000, the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) estimated relative survival for river-run hatchery yearling and subyearling chinook salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) passing through the spillway at Ice Harbor Dam on the Snake River. Fish were collected and marked with PIT tags at the Lower Monumental Dam smolt collection facility. After a 30-hour holding period, treatment and reference replicate groups were transported to Ice Harbor Dam and released. Treatment groups were released immediately upstream from Spillbay 3, 5, or 7, and reference groups were released into the tailrace 0.5 km below Ice Harbor Dam.
