Description:During the Tropical Ocean Global Atmospheric (TOGA) program approximately 150 drifting buoys provided by several nations, instrumented with atmospheric pressure, air and sea surface temperature sensors, will be deployed annually in the oceans of the Southern Hemisphere to provide observations in the most data-sparse regions of the earth. The buoy data will be transmitted via satellite link to a processing center and made available for operational use in near real time and for archiving with other TOGA research data sets.
