Description:Tropical cyclones (hurricanes/typhoons) cause death and destruction in catastrophic proportions around the tropical and subtropical regions of the world each year. The rate of loss has increased dramatically in recent years on a world wide basis, with occasional large loss of life (Sen, 1979). This same trend, with the exception of large loss of life, exists for the continental United States.
