• Description:
  The Northeast Fisheries Science Center has completed the 2022 autumn multispecies bottom trawl survey aboard NOAA Ship Henry B. Bigelow. A total of 307 representative stations were sampled during September 11 - November 15, 2022. This long-running, fishery-independent, bottom trawl survey monitors fishery abundance and distribution of the Northwest Atlantic continental shelf from Cape Lookout, NC to the Scotian Shelf. Data collected include fish age, length, weight, sex, maturity and food habits information which are critical inputs to the regional fish stock assessments helping to inform fishery management decisions by the New England and Mid-Atlantic Fisheries Management Councils as well as Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission. Additionally, vertical profiles of temperature and salinity were collected at trawl stations. Plankton were also sampled at a subset of stations, with 95 Bongo samples taken of 116.
