Description:Michigan Sea Grant (MISG), the Great Lakes Sea Grant Network (GLSGN), and NOAA’s Great Lakes Environmental Research Lab (GLERL), have collaborated to enhance communication through the support of a Sea Grant agent since 1999. In 2018, the partners revised this position to take the form of a NOAA-Sea Grant Extension Partnership Liaison, which adheres to the framework established by NOAA’s National Sea Grant Office (NSGO).
In designing the goals of this particular liaison position, the partners (NSGO, GLERL, MISG and the GLSGN) noted that they had a mutual interest in the widespread public dissemination of environmental, economic and educational information about the Great Lakes and in promoting improved understanding, conservation, wise use and management of the Great Lakes and their resources, while also improving the resiliency of coastal communities relying on these resources.
