Description:"The Beaufort Assessment Model (BAM) applies a statistical catch-age formulation implemented with the AD Model Builder software (Fournier et al. 2012) and fitted to multiple data sources simultaneously in a single integrated analysis (Maunder and Punt 2013). In essence, the model simulates a population forward in time while including fishing and biological processes (Quinn and Deriso 1999; Shertzer et al. 2014). Quantities to be estimated are systematically varied until characteristics of the simulated population match available data on the real population. Its basic structure is similar to that of other packages such as Stock Synthesis (Methot 2012; Methot and Wetzel 2013) and Age Structured Assessment Program (Legault 2008)"--Overview.
