Description:The NOAA Ship Chapman departed Pascagoula, MS at 1410, 01 October 1991 en route Morehead City, NC to support fisheries research objectives of the NMFS, Beaufort Laboratory in the South Atlantic Bight and adjacent Western North Atlantic from 07-14 October. Heavy weather and an unscheduled port call to effect repairs of the ship's freezer delayed arrival at Morehead City until 1204, 07 October. Scientific gear was loaded that afternoon but inclement weather further delayed departure until 1430, 08 October. Research operations in the Sargasso Sea were terminated due to inclement weather but contingency objectives inshore were met. All research operations were completed at 2230, 13 October and the vessel arrived Morehead city at 0213, 14 October. Scientific personnel disembarked at 1000, 14 October and NOAA Ship Chapman departed Morehead City on 15 October en route Pascagoula, MS, arriving at 1013, 20 October 1991.
