Description:In this report, we propose a framework that could be useful to select candidate communities from the main Hawaiian Islands for future qualitative research on the vulnerability of fishing communities to climate change. We adopted the IPCC framework (2001) that defines climate change vulnerability as a function of sensitivity (S), exposure (E), and adaptive capacity (AC). We tested and finalized community selection criteria based on available quantitative data and CSVIs relevant to MHI communities’ social and climate change vulnerability.
