    The Virginia Marine Resources Commission has the legislative mandate to protect and conserve the Commonwealth's fisheries resources. As a producer of about a quarter of the U.S. blue crab harvest, Virginia requires rational harvest control measures to preserve her role as a leading producer, and to contribute to the framework of overall Chesapeake Bay management.
