Description:This book provides an inventory of the birds and mammals that inhabit or frequent the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The book compares the variety and abundance of the birds and mammals found in this national park in 1989 with an inventory completed in the late 1950s. Weather patterns, erosion and the encroachment of people have all resulted in changes in the populations of birds and mammals that live in and use the seashore. Each bird and mammal sighted is listed, and what changes time has brought for these species are briefly noted.
