Description:Although bottomland preserves, or underwater parks as they are more commonly known, are new in Michigan, several do exist in other areas of the U.S. and in other countries as well. These guidelines draw heavily from management experiences with existing park/preserves and land based facilities with similar management objectives. lt must be recognized that these guidelines were framed prior to actual experience with operating Michigan preserves, and preserve managers will need to modify them in order to deal with problems we were unable to anticipate.
