Description:This cooperative report contains the results of a survey of laws and other factors connected with the siting of manganese nodule processing plants in six Pacific Basin/Rim countries (Australia, Canada, Columbia, Ecuador, Fiji, and the Philippines). The possible effects of each host country's environmental and land laws, as well as regional business and economic factors, are included. Other topics appropriate to individual countries, including ports, mining legislation, water legislation, and general conservation, are also addressed. Includes ten appendices.
