Description:A study of coastal sea level and its relationship to atmospheric forcing incorporates two four-month blocks of data collected during combined studies of the dynamics of the Carolina Capes shelf and the Cape Fear River Estuary. These study periods have been found to be representative of the subtidal frequency fluctuation `weather' of coastal sea level. The word weather is used to categorize several-day to several-week period fluctuations in sea level which ultimately coalesce to comprise the seasonal to yearly climatology of the regional coastal sea surface variability.
