  This report is part of a New York Sea Grant research project entitled 'The impact of Offshore Sand and Gravel Mining on the Availability and Costs of Construction Minerals in the Greater New York Metropolitan Area" (G.N.Y.M.A.) . Our study area includes twenty-four counties in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut as shown in Maps l, 2, and 3. The purpose of the project is to determine the economic conditions asociated with establishing and maintaining an offshore mining industry for construction minerals to serve this region.
