Description:The Fisheries Statistics Division (FSD) of the Southeast Fisheries Science Center (SEFSC) ran a pilot between April-November of 2015 to test the feasibility electronic reporting (e-logbooks) in the Southeast for federal commercially permitted coastal and Highly Migratory Species (HMS) vessels. In addition to evaluating the software and hardware options for e-logbooks, the pilot program provided an opportunity to collect fishing effort data on a set based (fishing event) level. This is opposed to the trip level information collected currently on paper logbooks.
