Description:This is a reference document that provides guidelines for training and the analysis of images on CoralNet from surveys conducted by the Ecosystem Sciences Division (ESD), formerly known as the Coral Reef Ecosystem Division (CRED), of the NOAA Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center (PIFSC). The user documentation outlined in this report applies to the analysis of photoquadrat images collected by ESD and its partners. The images were collected in the coral reef ecosystems of about 40 primary islands, atolls, and shallows banks in the Hawaiian Archipelago, including the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument; the Mariana Archipelago (Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, including the Marianas Trench Marine National Monument); American Samoa; and the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument (Wake, Johnston, Palmyra, and Kingman Atolls; and Howland, Baker, and Jarvis Islands).
