Description:Synthetic ropes are widely used in marine applications. Rope breakage can cause injury or economic loss. This report describes structural modeling of load-elongation behavior in eight-stranded rope, providing a basis for predicting internal wear and a foundation for blending fiber components to enhance tensile strength and fatigue life. Rope tensile load, interstrand pressures and strand relative movement are determined based on rope geometries before and after deformation.
