Description:Fishing for winter flounder in Rhode Island's coastal salt ponds has long been a popular sport. These flounder have also been the target of commercial fishing efforts. But catches have been declining in recent years. This booklet, based on Rhode Island Sea Grant-sponsored studies, investigates possible reasons for the decline, including the effects of dredging and fishing pressure. Winter flounder life cycles and spawning habits are also covered.
