Description:The Quarterly Report is a new publication of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's (MIT) Sea Grant College Program. Its purpose is to establish a regular bulletin of news about Sea Grant activities and other marine-related research at MIT. This first issue comes to you at the beginning of our upcoming two-year program cycle, and we hope that it will give an overview of what we plan to be doing. Subsequent issues will each examine three or four ongoing projects in some depth, highlighting break throughs and areas of concern to the marine community. This first issue is your index. We have presented here a thumbnail sketch of all our 1979-1980 projects, organized according to our five research theme areas: coastal ecology, coastal physical processes, living resource development, technology development for ocean uses, unmanned under water work vehicles, and offshore facilities.
