Description:Scientific awareness of gelatinous zooplankton, or jellyfish, which include medusae, siphonophores, ctenophores, salps, and larvaceans, has increased markedly in the past three decades. The literature reviews and research papers in this volume compiled from a recent conference explore such subjects as the medical aspects of stings, jellyfish as human food and jellyfish fisheries, interactions among jellyfish and fish, effects of environmental changes, effects of introduced ctenophores on the Black Sea ecosystem, factors causing increases in populations, and other aspects of jellyfish ecology.
