Description:As part of the 'Convective Overturn Experiment,' researchers deployed a cluster of moored buoys in Wilkinson Basin in the Gulf of Maine in late 1997. The main instrument buoy was equipped with meteorological sensors, an array of eight water temperature and conductivity sensor pairs, and an upward-looking/downward pair of ADCPs. Two 10-sensor temperature chains with a pressure sensor on their subsurface buoys were deployed nearby, and two guard buoys were equipped with fixed-depth water temperature/conductivity sensor pairs. Results are presented here.
