Description:Design and deployment of very long ropes for mooring depends on understanding mechanical behavior of the rope. This report provides quantitative data on physical tests of two major classes of fibers--PET and ARAMID, with and without marine finish. Tensile stress/strain behavior; determination of tangent modulus curves; creep and creep recovery friction coefficients; abrasion resistance under various loads; and lateral deformation are included.
