Description:Controlling pollution from toxic substances in the Great Lakes Basin is a special challenge. The development of this chemical inventory was stimulated by various events, including research meetings and legislation at the state and federal levels. A major impetus was the recommendation made at a University of Wisconsin Sea Grant-sponsored research workshop on Green Bay in 1978 that high priority be given to the research objective of compiling information about the chemicals manufactured and/or used in the Lower Fox River Basin to provide a data base for present and future investigations. The inventory that appears in this report was designed to satisfy that research objective.
