Description:This short publication describes the qualities of five types of onboard refrigeration used on small commercial fishing boats in Alaska: ice, chilled seawater, refrigerated seawater, chilling coils, and burlap. Each system is described and its advantages and disadvantages are noted. How to select a cooling method for a particular boat and for the level of product quality required is discussed.
