Description:This publication describes a trawling project conducted in Louisiana coastal waters. Its purpose was to experiment with different mesh sizes and trawl designs and compare their efficiency with the trawl developed by a New Orleans fisherman for use in southeast Louisiana. Descriptions are given of the vessel used, the gear required, and the methods employed in fishing; trawl diagrams are provided. Tables summarize the results of each of twelve trial tows.
