Description:In 1970, Louisiana State University's Agricultural Experiment
Station, with support from the
National Institutes of Health, began
a research program to develop
techniques and facilities for the
laboratory and commercial culture of
the bullfrog (Rana catesbeiana). In
1975, this effort was joined by the
LSU Office of Sea Grant Development. The project is still continuing, but sufficient knowledge is
available to design a full-scale
production system and an economic
evaluation can be obtained.
