Description:

There are a growing number of citizens' groups and high schools working together in northern New England to monitor the health of coastal waters, to provide baseline data, to pinpoint sources of contamination, and to educate the region's citizens. With the appropriate knowledge and training, citizen volunteers can participate in the environmental decision-making process and become directly involved in the stewardship of our commonly-held natural resources. The purpose of this manual is to facilitate these volunteer efforts by providing citizens with the information they need to effectively monitor coastal waters. As new material is developed or procedures change, new information can be added to supplement or replace outdated material.
