Description:The shellfishing industry is the largest fishery in Rhode Island. However, conflicting uses, fishing exploitation, and pollution of prime shellfishing grounds have caused severe problems for the industry. This collection of 13 papers, delivered at the 1990 Rhode Island Shellfisheries Conference, focuses on issues such as shellfish restoration and management programs, water quality and pollution in Narragansett Bay, and public health concerns regarding shellfish consumption.
