Description:"This report has been sponsored by the Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center in collaboration with Dalhousie University and provides results of research efforts to ascertain the feeding habits of the Hawaiian monk seal throughout its current range. This research focuses on the use of fatty acid signature analysis to determine the occurrence and composition of a wide variety of prey species consumed by monk seals. Subsequent publication of these data and additional analysis will address the most salient aspects of this work as it relates to the foraging ecology of the Hawaiian monk seal"--Preface.
