Description:A study was conducted from December 1, 1986 through February 28, 1987 to determine if the maximum temperature forecast provided by Model Output Statistics (MDS) for Omaha (CMA) and North Platte (LBF) , Nebraska could be improved by considering observed weather conditions. Several parameters were chosen for the study and included the surface wind, mixing depth, 850 mb temperatures, boundary layer winds, thickness values and sky cover/weather conditions. The 850 r±> temperature, mixing depth, and boundary layer winds were obtained from the 00Z upper air data.
