False-positive polyomavirus infection in a stranded, pregnant Cook Inlet beluga whale (Delphinapterus leucas)

  This finding indicates that polyomavirus is not considered to be a possible factor in the health status or death of this beluga whale. While polyomavirus are generally subclinical, they can sometimes cause disease and thus it was important to investigate this finding given the critically endangered status of this population.
