Description:

The data presented in this report are the result of three cruises to the tropical South Atlantic Ocean during January - February, 1979, July 1979 and February - March 1980. They were collected as part of the Department of Energy's Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) Program, and the First GARP Global Experiment (FGGE). The data fulfill an OTEC requirement for physical oceanographic data in the South Atlantic south of about 4°S, to evaluate the potential of various sites for OTEC operations. Other data collected in the tropical Atlantic for the OTEC program are reported in Molinari et al. (1979).
