Description:The first of a series of three major sets of cloud observations was completed in the spring and early summer of 1980. These cloud observations were instituted under the auspices of NOAA's Equatorial Pacific Ocean Climate Study (EPOCS) and NOAA's Wave Propagation Laboratory. NOAA's WP-3D Orion aircraft was employed for the cloud radiation measurements. Additionally, meteorological and flight data were taken with standard instruments aboard the aircraft. This report deals with the objectives, procedures, instrumentation and data-col1 ection/processing aspects of the 1980 Panama flights.
