Description:Hurricane Claudette was successfully tracked for three days using the 0.5-Hz (7-m) surface-wave-direction field mapped by the U. S. Air Force OTH-B over-the-horizon radar 2400 km away on the coast o fMaine. Surface wave direction is displayed with 60-km resolution in the vicinity ofthe stormforfive radar runs. The radar-derived track is compared with that published by the NOAA National Hurricane Center. Skewness and asymmetries in the apparent wave-direction field are noted.
