Description:In this report, we begin to fill this void by answering three basic, yet important, research questions about social media usage before, during, and after one type of extreme weather event—tornadoes: 1. Who uses social media to get information about severe weather and how has this evolved over time? 2. What do NWS forecasters and weather scientists think about social media and how has it changed the way they approach their jobs? 3. How does social media usage evolve throughout the course of a severe weather event?
