Description:This report describes reference conditions that can be used as a baseline to evaluate trends in juvenile spotted seatrout populations and compares current year juvenile spotted seatrout population metrics and environmental parameters with data sets from 2004-2019. The report describes juvenile abundance, as well as compares differences in abundance throughout the bay; examines the relationship between juvenile spotted seatrout abundance to salinity and seagrass habitat to provide insight into the potential response of spotted seatrout to Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Program (CERP) implementation; and determines salinity preferences for other juvenile sportfish in Florida Bay.
