Description:This NOAA Administrative Report presents findings from fieldwork with the Hawai‘i longline fleet conducted in summer/fall 2019. It reveals how Hawai‘i longline fishers are affected by, respond to, and attempt to mitigate protected species bycatch. The purpose of our research was to better understand protected species interactions from the perspective of Hawai‘i longline fishers and learn how solutions devised by industry can potentially further reduce bycatch.
