Description:This project investigated the availability, awareness, and gaps of socio-economic and biophysical information needed in the Pacific Island Region for effective coastal and fisheries management that takes human well-being into consideration. Main methods included secondary data review of existing socio-economic and biophysical data, online survey, and focus groups. Both of the latter methods were conducted with key individuals involved in monitoring efforts in the Pacific Island Region and in the National Coral Reef Monitoring Program (NCRMP), and included both current and possible data users. The project examined the NCRMP and non-NCRMP efforts in the Pacific Island Region. This document summarizes the main study results and provides recommendations regarding integrated monitoring efforts across the region and for regional socio-economic monitoring efforts.
