Description:This document describes the biological condition of groundfish stocks within the 200-mile Exclusive Economic Zone of the United States in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands region. The status of the stocks for 1988 and their projected acceptable biological catches (ABCs) for 1989 are described. The ABC values, together with socioeconomic considerations were used by the North Pacific Fishery Management Council to determine total allowable catches and other management strategies for the 1989 fishery.
