Description:Fisheries social scientists concerned with assessing the human dimensions of ecological and regulatory change often rely on large amounts of public data from diverse sources. Here, we document the creation of a centralized data mart and related online reporting environment meant to simplify access to important socio-cultural, demographic, and economic data. Over 300 individual data series on population structure, socio-economic status, educational attainment, housing characteristics, income distribution, and employment dynamics have been collected for fishing communities along the U.S. West Coast. These data have been warehoused within the Pacific Fisheries Information Network (PacFIN). Interactive, online reports hosted by PacFIN provide access to these data for West Coast fisheries scientists and managers.
