Description:The development of a spatially-explicit Atlantis ecosystem model for the nearshore (0–400 m depth) ecosystems of the main Hawaiian Islands is an interdisciplinary effort by the following collaborators: NOAA’s Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center (PIFSC), the University of Hawaiʻi, the international Atlantis community, the NOAA Pacific Islands Regional Office (PIRO), the Hawaiʻi Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR), and the Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council (WPRFMC). The ultimate goal of the Atlantis ecosystem model development is to conduct management strategy evaluations of a range of management scenarios that would comply with the various mandates (e.g. Magnuson-Stevenson Act) and agency objectives towards implementing ecosystem-based fisheries management.
