Description:Despite the large aIuount of information collected on the natural history and biology of the northern fur seal, there is little information on the migration paths and distribution of pups after they leave their islands of birth. The importance of early life history information is emphasized by the view that natural regulation of marine mammals occurs largely, if not primarily, through mechanisums related to juvenile survival.
