Description:Large-scale fisheries of the United States and its Participating Territories for highly migratory species (HMS) in the Pacific Ocean include purse seine fisheries for skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) and yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares); longline fisheries for bigeye tuna (Thunnus obesus), swordfish (Xiphias gladius), albacore (Thunnus alalunga), and associated pelagic fish species; and a troll fishery for albacore. Small-scale fisheries include troll fisheries for a wide variety of tropical tunas and associated pelagic species, handline fisheries for yellowfin and bigeye tuna, a pole-and-line fishery for skipjack tuna, and miscellaneous-gear fisheries.
