Description:The king and Tanner crab fisheries in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) (3 to 200 miles offshore) of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands off Alaska are managed under the Fishery Management Plan for King and Tanner Crab Fisheries in the Bering Sea/Aleutian Islands. This fishery management plan (FMP) was developed by the North Pacific Fishery Management Council (Council) under the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act (Magnuson-Stevens Act). The BSA! King and Tanner crab FMP was approved by the Secretary of Commerce and became effective in 1989.
